Full body checkup in Bangalore: what is actually included and what to skip

How to read a Bangalore master health package, which tests matter at your age, and the real cost difference between basic and executive panels.

"Full body checkup" means different things at different Bangalore centres. The same ₹2,000 package may include 25 tests at one lab and 90 at another — most of the extra tests are filler. Here is what a useful Bengaluru checkup looks like.

The core panel (everyone, every 1-2 years)

Test Why
CBC Anemia, infection screen
Fasting blood sugar + HbA1c Diabetes screen (India has 1 in 6 adults pre-diabetic)
Lipid profile Cardiovascular risk
LFT Liver health (especially in adults who drink or take long-term meds)
KFT / RFT + electrolytes Kidney function
TSH Thyroid screen
Urine routine Quick check for infection, sugar, protein
Vitamin D Common deficiency in Bengaluru office workers
Vitamin B12 Common in vegetarians
Blood pressure measurement Cheap, often the most important data point

This costs ₹1,800 - ₹3,000 at most NABL-accredited Bangalore labs. Anything below this list is a "basic" package; anything above is optional add-ons.

Useful add-ons by age and risk

  • 30-40 years: add a baseline ECG and lipid profile every 2 years.
  • 40+: add 2D echo or TMT if there is a family history of heart disease, plus a USG abdomen.
  • Women 40+: add a mammogram every 1-2 years, Pap smear every 3 years.
  • Men 45+: add PSA (prostate specific antigen) if family history of prostate cancer.
  • Smokers / ex-smokers 50+: discuss low-dose CT chest with a physician.

What is mostly filler

  • Long tumour-marker panels (CEA, CA 19-9, CA 125, AFP) in asymptomatic adults — high false-positive rate, NCG/NCCN do not recommend screening healthy people.
  • Multi-allergy panels (RAST/IgE) without symptoms.
  • "Anti-oxidant", "heavy metal", or "Ayurvedic constitution" panels — no clinical guideline supports them as screening.
  • Repeated vitamin D testing within the same year if your last value was normal.

Typical Bangalore prices

Package Range Where commonly offered
Basic ₹999 - ₹1,499 Most neighbourhood labs
Comprehensive ₹1,800 - ₹3,500 NABL chains across Koramangala, HSR, JP Nagar, Whitefield
Executive (with imaging) ₹4,500 - ₹9,000 Hospital chains, dedicated wellness centres
Cardiac / premium ₹9,000 - ₹18,000 Apollo, Fortis, Manipal, Narayana etc. wellness packages

If a centre quotes "100 tests for ₹999", it is almost always splitting the lipid panel into 5 tests, CBC into 8 tests, and so on, then counting each line. The actual diagnostic value is the same as a 25-line report.

How to read your checkup report

  1. Look at flagged values (H/L). Do not panic over a single mildly abnormal value — repeat if needed.
  2. Look at trends. A fasting sugar of 102 mg/dL is fine in isolation but worth attention if last year's was 88.
  3. Take the report to a physician for interpretation. The lab does not know your symptoms or medications.

Where to book in Bangalore

Most large Bengaluru chains offer home sample collection for the blood-work portion of full body checkups. Imaging (ECG, USG, X-ray) needs a centre visit. Use Locatemycentre to filter centres in your neighbourhood with imaging on-site.
